Debate: Is participation in Iran's presidential elections meaningful?

Iran is set to hold presidential elections in the shadow of the Guardian Council's mass disqualification of moderate and Reformist candidates. Given the widespread voter apathy, there are now expectations of a record-low turnout. Against this backdrop, Amwaj.media invited three Iranian experts to share their views on whether participation in the elections is meaningful.

Bijan Khajehpour is an economist and political analyst. He is the managing partner of Eurasian Nexus Partners.

Saeid Jafari is a Middle East analyst and journalist with long experience of having covered Iran, including its elections.

Fahimeh Miri is a law graduate and journalist who has worked for several of Iran’s leading media outlets.
