Turks divided as Erdogan pursues warmer ties with Saudi Arabia

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s two-day trip to Saudi Arabia late last month opened a new chapter in the foreign policies of both countries. The visit marked the highest-level diplomatic engagement between Ankara and Riyadh since the Oct. 2018 assassination of Saudi dissident journalist Jamal Khashoggi at the Kingdom’s consulate in Istanbul.
