Why Turkey’s main opposition party is doing a U-turn on Iraqi Kurds

For the first time in its history, Turkey’s main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) in early September sent a delegation to the Kurdistan region of Iraq (KRI). The delegation’s three-day trip to Erbil saw CHP members meet with top Iraqi Kurdish leaders. The trip has been mostly seen as a move by the Turkish party to garner Kurdish votes at home ahead of Turkey’s 2023 presidential and parliamentary elections.
