Iran has responded to an invitation by King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud for President Ebrahim Raisi to visit Saudi Arabia, and will offer to reciprocally host the monarch. Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian made the revelation in an interview with Al-Jazeera correspondent (and Amwaj.media contributor) Ali Hashem late on Mar. 27.
This comes as the Iranian and Saudi foreign ministers have in a third contact in less than 10 days agreed to meet in person during the current Islamic lunar month of Ramadhan. The two chief diplomats are tasked with implementing the agreement reached in China earlier this month to reopen embassies by May 10.
