The story: Prominent Egyptian Sunni scholar Yusuf Al-Qaradawi has passed away in Doha. Qaradawi spent most of his life in Qatar, where he enjoyed support from the authorities. The late scholar drew controversy over his influence on the Muslim Brotherhood as well as support for the 2011 Arab uprisings, drawing the ire of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
