US aid freeze provides opening for GCC in Sudan

The story: Most Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states have called for restraint in Sudan after the military’s dissolving of the country’s transitional sovereignty council. The council has governed Sudan since former president Omar Al-Bashir was ousted in 2019. Council chief Gen. Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan has announced that the military will oversee Sudan’s political transition until elections scheduled for July 2023.
