GCC members end rift with Lebanon, pledging conditional aid

The story: Kuwait has pledged that Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states will provide aid to cash-strapped Lebanon provided that reforms are enacted. The offer comes as several Gulf Arab states are returning their ambassadors to Beirut, thereby ending a months-long rupture in diplomatic relations. The rift was sparked in Oct. 2021 after the airing of comments by then-Lebanese information minister George Kordahi critical of the Saudi-led war in Yemen.
