Iran signals progress in Vienna as nuclear talks accelerate

The story: Senior Iranian negotiator Abbas Araqchi has described the nuclear talks in Vienna as “positive.” The meetings in the Austrian capital this week are aimed at reviving the 2015 Iran nuclear deal. The accord, which former US president Donald Trump left in 2018, imposes limits on Tehran’s nuclear program in return for sanctions relief.

The coverage: Speaking to state-run Press TV, Araqchi has confirmed that expert-level talks are being held and that the next session of the Joint Commission, which gathers the remaining signatories to the deal, will take place on Apr. 9.
