Inside story: Is Iran-UK prisoner deal a relic of Trump era?

The story: Britain has repaid a 43-year-old debt to Iran in apparent exchange for Tehran’s release of two British-Iranian dual nationals convicted of alleged security offenses. The debt repayment and prisoner release have been facilitated by Oman, an interlocutor trusted by both Iran and the west. However, the deal is “to the letter” a previous understanding agreed under the Donald Trump administration, a senior Iranian source with knowledge of the matter has alleged to Amwaj.media.
