The story: Iran’s foreign minister has canceled his attendance of the upcoming Review Conference of the Parties to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT), Amwaj.media has learned. Speaking on condition of anonymity, informed sources said Hossein Amir-Abdollahian has made a U-turn on attending the conference in New York, instead opting to send his deputy for legal and international affairs, Reza Najafi. The conference is set to begin on Aug. 1.
The cancelation comes as Iran’s atomic chief has made clear that the Islamic Republic will not reactivate cameras set up by UN inspectors until and unless the 2015 nuclear deal is revived.
