Iran’s pro-reform camp warns against end to ‘republicanism’, low-turnout polls

The story: Prominent Reformist figure and former president Mohammad Khatami (1997-2005) has warned that Iran’s conservative-dominated parliament is targeting “republicanism” in the country. This comes as moderate ex-president Hassan Rouhani (2013-21) has raised alarm over the broader consequences of low-turnout elections.
