Iran’s teachers protest for fair pay

The story: Iran’s parliament has moved to approve a rise in teacher salaries following mass protests for fair pay and the release of jailed colleagues. Iranian teachers in multiple provinces rallied on Dec. 13 after a two-day strike, including a protest in front of the parliament to demand structural reforms to their compensation agreements. Videos circulating on social media reportedly showed security forces responding violently to the protesters.
