Iran vows 'no retreat' on hijab enforcement amid public clashes

The story: Facing a rising number of women who flout the mandatory hijab, Iranian authorities have pledged to fully enforce the law. But rather than re-deploying the notorious “Guidance Patrol,” the approaches reportedly being considered revolve around denying services to alleged dress code violators.

Meanwhile, parliamentarians could soon draw up legislation further punishing women who show their hair in public. This comes amid growing public altercations between supporters and critics of the mandatory hijab, which has led to several arrests.
