Iraqis on charm offensive as Iran’s deadline to disarm Kurdish groups looms

The story: Iraq’s prime minister is engaging with Iranian media and leaders ahead of Tehran’s Sept. 19 deadline for Iranian Kurdish opposition groups in Iraq to be disarmed. In parallel, Iraqi Kurdish leaders are also reaching out to the Islamic Republic to address Iranian security concerns.

This comes as a commander of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has indicated that strikes on targets in Iraqi Kurdistan will be resumed if the deadline is missed.
