The story: Most gasoline stations in Iran have seen their operations disrupted by a cyber-attack. The incident has been claimed by a hacking group accused of being linked to Israel. This is while Iran’s petroleum minister has attributed the attack to Israel and the US.
The hackers targeted Iran’s fuel distribution system. As a result, gasoline stations were not able to accept smart cards used by ordinary Iranians to access monthly quotas of subsidized fuel.
The coverage: Iranian media reported disruptions in gasolne stations across the country in the morning of Dec. 18.
