Vaccine inequality triggers contention in Kuwait

The story: Kuwait is facing criticism for giving priority to its own citizens over expats in its Covid-19 vaccination drive. In December, local authorities announced a nationwide campaign to vaccinate some 2.7 million people against Covid-19, to “achieve community immunity.” However, Kuwait only extended its vaccination drive to include non-Kuwaiti residents six weeks into the campaign. Even then, the number of covered expats has been limited. 

The coverage: On Feb. 18, Kuwait’s Al-Qabas and Al-Jarida newspapers both highlighted that up until Feb. 15 “around 137 thousand people had received the vaccine, including 119 thousand nationals and 16 thousand others"...
