On anniversary of unrest, Iran state media mock protester turnout

The story: Small protests have been held in Iran to mark the one-year anniversary of the passing of Mahsa Jina Amini. The death of the young woman in morality police custody in Sept. 2022 sparked months of nationwide unrest.

Conservative media have mocked opponents of the Islamic Republic for what is seen as a failure to mobilize large-scale protests to mark the occasion. This is while reports have suggested that a heavy security presence was deployed in Tehran as well as Amini's home province of Kurdistan to stop any potential unrest.
