Arrest of renowned poet in Kuwait raises rights concerns

The story: Kuwaiti state security forces are under fire over their detention of Jamal Al-Sayer, a renowned poet. The public prosecutor claims that Sayer violated the law by “insulting the emir and spreading fake news in a series of tweets.” The backlash has swept Twitter, with many prominent Kuwaiti MPs denouncing the detention as “kidnapping.”
