Major political controversy in Kuwait prompts emir's intervention

The story: Kuwait’s Emir, Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, has halted plans by the interior ministry to take legal action against 38 MPs—including Speaker Marzouk Al-Ghanem. The public prosecution had questioned lawmakers for violating Kuwait’s Covid-19 restrictions, including by participating in a rally held to support opposition politician Bader Dahoom, whose membership of parliament was recently revoked.
