Following state visit, Qatar pledges major investment in Pakistan

The story: The Qatar Investment Authority (QIA) says it intends to invest 3B USD in Pakistan. The move will help revitalize the South Asian nation’s struggling economy. The announcement follows Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s Aug. 23-24 state visit to Doha. The Qatari investment comes in the wake of financial support for Pakistan from Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
