Qatar positions itself to mediate Gulf-Lebanon row as crisis grows

The story: Qatar is set to reportedly send its chief diplomat to Beirut to mediate the ongoing diplomatic row between Lebanon and several fellow members of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). In response to criticism of the Yemen war by the Lebanese information minister, Bahrain, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have all recalled their ambassadors. The diplomatic crisis threatens to further strain Lebanon’s flailing economy.
