Qatar's Emir reshuffles cabinet after historic elections

The story: Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani has ordered a reshuffle of 13 ministerial positions. His decree also expands the number of ministerial portfolios from 14 to 18. The change follows Qatar’s historic first Shura Council elections on Oct. 2 and the Emir’s appointment of a new secretary-general, in addition to other council positions, in the past days.

The coverage: Qatar’s Emiri Diwan on Oct. 19 announced the Emir’s decree to form a new cabinet. It now includes a ministry of environment and climate change, separating the environment portfolio from the municipality ministry with which it was previously paired....
