Saudi activists point at contradictions in MBS’ green project

The story: On Jan. 10, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman (MBS) announced the launch of The Line smart city project, an emissions-free settlement due to be built in the futuristic Neom city. The environmental plan was widely celebrated by Saudi official media, while prompting criticism from Saudi dissidents.

The coverage: Saudi media has been upbeat about the announcement, with the official website of Neom city on Jan. 10 describing The Line as “a revolution in urban life”...
