Pope’s visit to northern Iraq highlights sluggish reconstruction

The story: On the third day of his historic visit to Iraq, Pope Francis toured the northern cities of Erbil, Mosul and the predominantly Assyrian town of Qaraqosh. The tour inadvertently has shed light on stalled reconstruction efforts in areas destroyed in the fight against the Islamic State group (IS). Iraq has over one million  internally displaced persons (IDPs), despite the passing of several years since Baghdad announced victory over IS.
