Can Iran enable a deal with the Taliban?

The story: Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, deputy leader and co-founder of the Taliban, on Jan. 26 led a political delegation to Iran. The talks were attended by senior officials including Ali Shamkhani, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, who described the militant group as “determined” to “fight” the United States.  During the meeting, Baradar declared his readiness to cooperate with Tehran in maintaining border security between Iran and Afghanistan.
