The story: Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, deputy leader and co-founder of the Taliban, on Jan. 26 led a political delegation to Iran. The talks were attended by senior officials including Ali Shamkhani, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, who described the militant group as “determined” to “fight” the United States.
