Yemen’s new presidential council revives hopes for peace talks

The story: Yemen has sworn in an eight-member presidential council to lead its government after the Apr. 7 resignation of ex-president Abdrabbuh Mansur Hadi (2012-22). Former interior minister and Hadi advisor Rashid Mohammad Al-Alimi has been chosen as chairman of the council. The transition follows intra-Yemeni consultations in Riyadh and a UN-brokered humanitarian ceasefire that was announced earlier this month.
